Day of Service

Yesterday the girls and I went over to Bainbridge to participate in the day of service that was sponsored by our church. All of the wards and branches (congregations) in the southeast area were supposed to be working on community projects simultaneously. Our group was assigned to clean up an elderly woman's backyard. It backs up to a doctor's office parking lot downtown, and she had trouble with lots of litter and leaves that were being blown into her backyard.

It was great to give service to someone who was truly in need, and I really enjoyed doing it with the girls. (Unfortunately, Travis had to work.) We sang a few songs as we worked together, and talked about the joy of work and service. When we were finished, we had bagged over 55 trash bags full of bottles, trash, and leaves!

It was a great feeling to give service, and to know that we were doing it along with thousands of others, made the work even sweeter!
