Time Out for Women

I was so excited to be able to attend Time Out for Women in Orlando with some great friends this year. We had so much fun together, and it was an uplifting weekend! I was able to rejuvenate and refresh my spirit, and that was such a blessing!

There were great presenters all weekend with some inspiring words and music for us. I absolutely LOVED listening to the music of Michael McLean and Hilary Weeks. They are my favorites, hands down!

getting to visit with some friends from Naples...another GREAT thing about the weekend!

Emily Watts and me

I just loved Emily Watts' talk! She talked a lot about mothering and reminded me of many important truths. First, she said that Heavenly Father loves my children just as much (if not more) than I do, and He has insights into our children that we don't. We can pray and He will teach us these things. She also talked about children being like fruit--some are just slower to ripen than others. I really liked that thought. She also said that sometimes Heavenly Father lets hard things happen to us in order to prepare us for future things. And my favorite tidbit was that the fruits of our parenting could be US and how WE have grown and developed along the journey. I know that as a mother I have grown so much, and I hope that my experiences will benefit my children.

One last thought that really stuck with me from the weekend came from Kris Belcher. She is such an inspiration! She talked about living "vertically"--which is looking toward Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ--rather than living "horizontally"--comparing yourself to others on earth. I thought that was fantastic and something that I need to be doing more of. Sometimes I tend to get caught up in things of the world that will have no lasting consequence, and I need to change that mentality.

Such a great weekend with great friends. Can't wait till next year!

How fun! Sometimes it is so refreshing to get away and renew your spirit. It looks like you had a great time. I liked the comment about children being like fruit. I, too, have to remind myself that no two children are alike, and I have to take that into consideration as a parent. Excellent point about living "vertically" instead of "horizontally"--I will have to remember that! :)

Hi- so fun to see us together at Time Out- it was good for me this time too. I have felt my growth as a mother and know I am learning lessons I hadn't planned on. You were so diligent in getting those pictures! :) Donna
