Valentines

Do you remember doing your Valentine's when you were in elementary school?

I remember carefully selecting the perfect box of valentine cards--as I got older, making sure they were "cool" enough. I was always so excited to get the list of my classmates (of course, I still love lists). Then I would go through the list and carefully select the "perfect" valentine card for each member of the class. I had to make sure not to get anything too mushy for the
boys I didn't like much, and nothing too romantic for the girls either--not that boxed Valentine's are either "mushy" or "romantic"! :) I carefully wrote my name on each card and placed it in the envelope and then I put their name on it (remember when the boxed Valentine's actually came with envelopes?!?). Ahhh, the good old days. That's one of the best things about watching our girls go through these things--it brings back so many fun, happy memories!

As for our girls, Shelby had to choose two kinds--Disney Fairies for the girls and SpongeBob for the boys (I'm not a big fan of SpongeBob, but that's beside the point) and Reese's Cups for everyone. Abby chose Disney Fairies for everyone (but she made sure to give the "larger" cards to her favorite people) and Jolly Rancher heart-shaped lollipops. And Emily (oh, Emily) chose these demented-looking animal cards that change when you move them back and forth (I can't remember the technical name for them). She thought they were so funny, and she was actually the pickiest about who in her class got which animal. She also got some Reese's hearts to pass out with them. They had such a great time doing their Valentine's and were so excited to get to school today to pass them out!

That is one of the greatest things about being a mother - remembering your own childhood through the experiences your children have. Your girls are getting so big. Please give them hugs for me. I miss them! Can I just say it again that I am overjoyed you are blogging. I love getting a sneak peak into your thoughts and lives. Love you!!!
