Rosebud Parade

Tonight was the annual Rosebud Parade. It kicks off a weekend of Rose Festival events. Thomasville is also known as the "Rose City." It is so pretty here right now! There are blooming rose bushes all over town. I will have to try to get some pictures of them soon. Anyway, the Rosebud Parade is for all of the kids in Thomasville. They all get to march in the parade as part of one group or another. Shelby didn't march this year since she is in middle school now--the only ones that march from that school are the 7th and 8th grade band members. But Abby and Emily marched and looked so cute! Tomorrow night is the actual Rose Parade which has lots of beautiful floats and bands and other fun stuff. Between the Rose weekend and Travis and Abby's birthdays, it has been a busy week and will be an even busier weekend!

The beginning of the parade

Shelby enjoying some fresh, hot boiled peanuts

Abby (in the hat) marching with friends from Cross Creek Elementary

Emily and Trav marching with the Garrison-Pilcher Elementary "Wee Bees" (she had to be accompanied by an adult to be in the parade)

Shelby is so grown up. She could easily pass for 14 or 15. How does that make you feel Mom?

Bite your tongue, Kristen! :o) She is "only" 11--not even quite 11 1/2, but she thinks she's 14 or 15. She's begging for a cell phone, but for now we refuse. I am excited to see the young woman she's growing into, but so sad at the same time. I think the right term is "bittersweet"
