The first week in February we took a mini-vacation up to Atlanta. We had been needing a getaway for a while, and decided that it would be a good use of some of the Christmas money we had received. While we were there, we took the girls to the Georgia Aquarium. In addition to all the fish, the Titanic exhibit was there, and the girls were so excited to see that! We couldn't take pictures in there, so I don't have any to post, but it was very neat to see all of the artifacts. The girls enjoyed that part, but when they figured out that there was nothing from "Jack" or "Rose" there, and that mom would want to stop and read every word on every plaque, their patience began to wilt. Fortunately I'm a quick reader and there were enough other things to keep their interest. :)

When we entered the Titanic exhibit, we were each given a "boarding pass" with the name of a specific passenger and some information about them. We learned where they were from, why they were on the Titanic sailing to America, and other bits of personal information. At the end of the tour, we were able to find out if our person survived or not. All of us girls survived, but Travis wasn't so lucky. The girls were upset, so I reminded them about how in the movie, the women and children were loaded into the lifeboats first. They didn't think this was fair, and I had to wonder if that would still happen in today's world...

all of the massive aquariums there are beautiful...and so are our girls!

While we were there, we found out that they are building a large dolphin exhibit that will open at the end of 2010. Since that is Abby's FAVORITE animal, I'm sure we'll be going back then!

What an awesome trip! I love the aquarium and hope to visit it (my first time in Atlanta) next month when I head to a conference up there. :-) I saw the Titanic exhibit up in Seattle a few years ago and it truly was awesome! Glad you all had a wonderful time!
