On the evening of February 19th, a tornado went through Thomas county less than a mile from where our home is. We had no warning about it, and were so thankful that no lives were lost and that our home was spared. We will definitely be investing in a weather radio in the near future! Here are some pictures that Travis took of the area:
Brookwood School--a private school near our home
You can't see it here, but one of the buses was actually flipped onto it's side.
The sight of trees sheared off in the middle was eerie.
A look down one of the streets that was blocked off by police. The power crews were wonderful in getting power back up so quickly! That is a news van down on the right side of the street.
Over the weekend, Travis and many members of our church organized and went to work helping people who were most affected. While there, he got some more amazing and devastating shots.

Inside one of the damaged homes--even seeing the pictures I still have a hard time imagining it!

Wow! You have gotten some pretty powerful pictures. This event just broke my heart. Losing your home is truly a traumatic event. My heart goes out to all of the folks affected. I'm just so glad your neighborhood was spared--that was a little too close!
