Not to be left out, here are some pictures of Shelby's field day about a week and a half ago. The school takes all of the 5th graders (and the other grades on their assigned days) over to the high school football field for the events. It was really fun to be out there and to see all of the cheering. The announcer would call names and give the play-by-play action on the PA system. It was really cool.
The grades are broken up into "companies" and those kids are together for the school year. There are about 125 kids per company and there are 4 companies in each grade. Shelby is in the Tango company, and they won the overall field day--they had the most points. To celebrate, they all got ice cream sandwiches today at lunch. (Shelby said they only rubbed it in the faces of the other companies "just a little."...Guess we'll still have to work on sportsmanship!)
